Who were my ancestors? Why look for
them? My two sisters and myself have the unique blend of genes from 16
distinct, once living people, my grandparent's grandparents. I have,
with others, traced my fathers line back a long way, but they become only
names after more than 5 generations, whereas up to 5 generations are within the
public record, relatively easy to access (but not all the time!)
These 16 people were known to my
grandparents, and sometimes snatches of conversation from my early
childhood sparks a new line of research in these 16 people. You see,
I knew the 4 people who knew the 16 - fascinating isn't it? You
should also try it!
Here you'll find the 16,
the direct ancestors of my sisters and myself,
linked to a separate page for
each. This is who I think they were, where they were born,
lived, married, had kids, where they went, what they did for a living and
where and how they all died.
I have attempted to recreate their stories as I have been best able to.
I hope I do them all justice, after all, without them I wouldn't be here.
I also have listed all my direct
ancestors back to the 16 great great grandparents - 32 of them!
There
is also a
GEDCOM file here, an
extract of the 16 people and all their descendants that I know of.
Help me out here, if you are descended from the 16, contact me, let's
share in the mysteries.
